In one of his finest training performances, Cox started the meeting on a high with Jazz Musician ($2.50) and Baby Jack ($2.30 fav) breaking through for their first career wins.
Cox also claimed the fourth race with Dalrada ($3.80) before both Wilscot ($4.60) and Bay Of Biscay ($4.60) made it a day to savour for the veteran trainer.
Blueconi ($21) was the only Cox runner not to salute at the meeting after running sixth.
“I should have had six winners, but’s that life,” Cox said.
“I rated the ride on Blueconi about a three out of 10.”
Jockeys Jarrod Fry and Jason Collins cashed in Cox’s success to both land trebles after Fry also rode Harlem Star to victory for trainer Brad Cole.
Cox is enjoying a golden run after also snaring four winners on Wodonga Cup day.
Stablemates Bringenbrong and Hot Ruby also won at Tatura and Seymour last week.
In an outstanding training feat, Cox has seven winners from his past 11 runners.
The performance has propelled him to No. 2 on racenet.com.au’s hot trainers which ranks the strike rates of trainers, which have had a minimum of 15 starters in the previous 21 days.
Cox attributed his stellar run to hard work.
“Days like Saturday make all the hard work worthwhile and it was a proud moment for me,” he said.
“I don’t attribute the success to anything in particular and is just a combination of hard work by the staff and myself and it’s always pleasing to be able to train winners for the owners.”
Cox rated the wins by Baby Jack, Wilscot and Bay Of Biscay as the most satisfying.
“I’ve always thought all three have got their fair share of ability,” he said.
“They are certainly starting to realise their potential now.”
Cox said he was likely to nominate a handful of runners for both Wodonga on Boxing Day and Towong the following day.
Stable star Sumakaray is also set to resume from a 34-week spell at Sandown on Boxing day.
The talented mare was a recent trial winner at Albury and boasts a lethal record when reteurning from a spell.
