On Monday it will play the semi-final against Clarence River and hopefully the following day the final against the winner of the other semi.
CAW’s Michael Erdeljac expects talent scouts to pick up on a raft of ready-made rep cricketers.
“The main reason we enter these competitions is to develop pathways for our junior cricketers,” he said.
“We now have links to NSW, ACT and Victorian cricket and rather than have a Dom Thornely or Andrew McDonald make it on the national stage once a decade we want to see someone from here break through every two years.
“We believe we are doing the right thing and that is reflected in the 30 to 40 players we are getting to rep cricket trials.
“Kids can now see there is a representative pathway that goes way beyond just playing on a Saturday morning.”
Erdeljac believes the Colts side can go all the way.
“We have five opening bowlers in the side, David Tassell, Chris Bridle, Ryan De Vries, Jesse Griffiths and Sam Stephens,” he said.
“I don’t think any of the opposition sides will have faced that sort of pace before.”
