Cr Mack and Cr Jackson joined the council together in 2012 and are mayor and deputy mayor.
Cr Jackson said he was aware of the speculation Cr Mack would stand as an independent in March, but had no insight into what he could do.
“I can honestly say he hasn’t told me anything,” Cr Jackson said.
“He is playing his cards very close to his chest.
“I would definitely like to know whether he was running.
“But I wouldn’t be opposed to him running.
“Like anything I would support his decision and he would support mine.
“It is a wait and see at the moment.”
Cr Mack couldn’t be contacted for comment.
