As dusk takes it hold on summer afternoons, visitors to the winery will be sipping on wine cocktails overlooking Sunday Creek.
Pfeiffer Wines senior winemaker and managing partner Chris Pfeiffer said he wanted to create a calming atmosphere for visitors and the community.
“Everyone loves our bridge and the atmosphere so we thought why not run a bridge bar?” he said.
The opening of the bar on Saturday coincided with the launch of an art show and summer market.
More than 1000 people visited the winery for the seasonal market of about 30 stalls selling produce that complemented wines, like strawberries, olives, bread and cheese.
This is the fourth art show that has been held at the Rutherglen winery and attracted more than 120 art works this year.
“It’s about local artists and letting them do what they enjoy,” Mr Pfeiffer said.
“We give people the opportunity to show their work and interact with the community.”
The bridge bar is open every night from 4pm to 8pm and will close on January 11.
The art show will run until Australia Day.
