Seaton yesterday would not rule out leaving the Thunder to join the Wagga club.
“There’s a possibility I could do anything,” he said yesterday.
“At the moment I just want to enjoy my holidays.”
Seaton, who is one of quickest and most dashing backs in the Group 9 competition, was not keen to discuss his rugby league plans for this year.
“To be brutally honest I don’t really want to say anything,” he said.
Despite Seaton’s reticence, speculation is mounting that he is most assuredly on the recruitment radar for Kangaroos.
Well-placed sources yesterday revealed approaches had been made to Seaton and his brother Chris to jump ship from the Thunder.
Mitch Seaton yesterday confirmed he was still in talks with Albury in a bid to settle his agenda for the Group 9 season starting on April 11.
Seaton, who lives and works in Albury, would be a perfect fit for a Wagga team in need of a quality outside back.
Last year the Roos lacked penetration in the centres, a situation that will be amplified if barnstorming Jade Williams locks in the fullback spot at the club.
Although adept at playing centre or five-eighth, Williams has a preference for fullback, leaving Mitch Seaton as an ideal candidate to slot into the team.
Likewise, Chris Seaton is also a flashy speedster and would give Roos extra zip where it is needed.
The Seatons are prized players at Albury — and the Thunder are sure to fight hard to keep them.
Significantly, Chris Seaton has played in Albury’s historic three straight Group 9 grand final triumphs, including twice as a winger (2012-13) and as a centre last year.
After missing the 2012 grand final, Mitch Seaton has played centre in the Thunder’s premierships in 2013 and 2014.
The news that the Seaton siblings are being pursued by the Roos is another blow to the Border team.
Since winning the grand final on September 28, the Thunder have lost playmaker Willie Heta, prop Mitch Davis, second rower Jake Grace and lock Lou Goodwin, as well as having Ben Jeffery replace Josh Cale as coach.
On a more positive note, the Thunder are believed to be close to finalising a deal with a highly-regarded lock from Sydney and a centre.
