Only hours after taking out his age category in the 750-metre swim, 22.6-kilometre ride and five-kilometre run in the Echuca-Moama triathlon on Saturday evening, the 17-year-old was on the starting line at Corowa.
The Benalla youngster came home second behind international competitor Jesse Featonby in the 18-kilometre ride, 300-metre swim and five-kilometre run.
Baker’s coach Kell Rook said the rising star took it all in his stride.
“Luke only got to bed at 12.30am on Sunday and was up for Corowa early the next morning,” Rook said.
“It was a big two days for him.
“You wouldn’t want to do it every weekend, but we set him for it and he did really well.”
Baker, who travels from Benalla to Albury for training two or three times a week, has also tasted success in recent triathlons at Benalla and Allans Flat.
He will compete in the Albury-Wodonga Triathlon Club’s sprint event on Sunday before turning his attention to Melbourne.
