The hard-hitting opener said yesterday he was supremely confident of Tradelink Hurricanes’ chances of bringing down Linde Reds and winning their second title in three years.
“It’s great the Linde Reds have made the final,” Ball said.
“There has to be a loser in every final — just hopefully it’s an honourable loss.
“If you are coming to watch on Sunday when I’m batting don’t park your car at the ground.
“I would suggest parking your car at Myer underground shelter — it will be the only safe place in town.”
Jokes aside, the annual charity big bash has raised about $120,000 from the cricketing community in the past three years and bragging rights are firmly on the agenda in Cricket Albury-Wodonga ranks this weekend.
Tradelink won a tight contest against Linde Reds during the home and away but they will have to curtail the hitting power of David Farrell and Daniel Athanitis.
They have cleared the ropes on seven and five occasions respectively while Ball and Ash Borella lead the six-count for the Hurricanes with four.
Proceeds from the charity big bash will go to the James McQuillan Future Fund and Albury Regional Cancer Centre, with the former Albury footballer grateful for the support he has received.
“It’s been awesome,” McQuillan said.
“The boys have done a great job.”
Big bash organiser Gary Tonkin said he was hopeful of a good crowd with about 10 Milo T20 Blast teams kicking the day off at 10am.
“The players love it,” Tonkin said.
“The cricket community gets behind it each year and it’s for a great cause.”
