Featonby’s time of 53:05 was just 30 seconds off his record run from last year, with Rodgers more than two minutes behind, finishing in 55:14.
Albury’s Stacey Loccisano claimed first overall in the women’s category in a time of 1:07:32, with Denae Sinclair-Clift, of Brunswick, close behind.
Club official David Gill said Loccisano’s win was reward for some hard yards on the training track.
“Stacey ran a great time, she’s been putting in a lot of work and it’s great to see one of our club members achieve this kind of result,” Gill said.
“It’s great to see the amount of entrants we get each year has been increasing, for our athletes to be able to race against people from other regions is great for their development.”
The inclusion of yesterday’s race in the Rural Tri-Series had increased the amount of exposure the sprint race received, according to Gill, who said the club was optimistic about having even more entrants next year.
“We’ve had some great feedback from people who have travelled from places like Warrnambool for our race, so we’re definitely thinking positively about the amount of entrants we can draw to coming events,” he said.
“Everything ran smoothly, we saw some great results so hopefully news will continue to spread via word of mouth about the quality of the event we run here.”
Conditions were perfect for the race, which drew 19 more entrants compared to last year.
