The man was working on a home being built in Wodonga’s South Street when he fell from the roof about 11am.
He landed on the home’s concrete slab and was taken to hospital with suspected head and neck injuries.
He had been working with his son.
Earlier there had been an accident at a farming property at Cudgewa about 8.30am.
A man had been reversing a four-wheel farm machine, similar to a quad bike, in cattle yards when he hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
He knocked over his wife and backed over her legs, causing her serious injuries.
The 83-year-old woman was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment.
Speaking about the Wodonga incident, Sgt Branko Ivic said the elderly man appeared to have avoided serious injury.
“He’s in a fair enough state considering the height of the fall,” he said.
“He’s landed on concrete.
“From what I’ve heard from the paramedics, there appears to be no spinal injuries, but that will be up to them to determine.”
The Lavington-based builder had fallen from the centre of the timber home.
“People need to be careful and diligent around worksites,” Sgt Ivic said.
“They need to take a commonsense approach.”
WorkSafe was notified of both incidents and is making inquiries.
