After the weekend thrashing of the Newman LNP government in Queensland, less than a week after the Prince Philip Knighthood disaster on Australia Day, there are plenty of people asking whether it may be too late for Mr Abbott to reboot his leadership.
Both Julie Bishop and Malcolm Turnbull have resisted calls to challenge Mr Abbott’s leadership but there has been open discussion of the Prime Minister’s future among other Liberal MPs which may or may not transpire into a challenge.
Meanwhile the National Party turns its attention to Wodonga this week with a gathering of federal MPs for Thursday’s party room meeting, including a public meet-and-greet session at The Cube and a $1100-a-seat dinner for those seeking the opportunity to talk with Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss and Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce.
The National have selected Indi for their talks ahead of a bid to wrest the seat from Cathy McGowan next year.
