Jackson's 1092.65 hectare (2700 acre) Neverland ranch in Los Olivos, California, has been put on the market by its owners hedge fund Colony Capital and, according to Page Six, its prospective buyers' visions for the place could not be more different.

While two of the prospective buyers want to turn the property into a shrine for the late singer, similar to the tribute to Elvis Presley's former Graceland residence, one businessman has reportedly announced his intentions to turn the site into a therapy camp for victims of child sexual abuse.

"His goal is for the place to be used to help children in a serene setting recover from the trauma of sex abuse," a source told Page Six.

"The plan is to have children come there for treatment and they will also hire trained therapists who would help the victims through the use of equine-assisted therapy, which works to improve the kids' self-esteem, and it helps them to become more outgoing."

Jackson passed away from acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication after suffering cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009.

Both before and after his death, the singer has been faced with allegations of child sexual abuse at his Neverland ranch.

The first accusation was made in 1993, when Jackson was accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. Following the accusation, Jackson was strip searched. While Chandler's descriptions of Jackson's genitals (particularly a dark spot underneath his penis) appeared to match photographs, Jackson was not indicted by the jury and the matter was settled out of court.

Jackson faced investigation again in 2003, after a scene in his behind-the-scenes documentary Living With Michael Jackson showed him planning a sleepover with another 13-year-old boy. Jackson was charged with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent, however he maintained the sleepovers were not sexual in nature and in June 2005 was acquitted of all charges.

In 2013, following Jackson's death, So You Think You Can Dance US choreographer Wade Robson produced fresh allegations, saying that Jackson abused him as a child. Robson (who, along with his family, relocated from Brisbane to the US as a nine year old to perform in Jackson's music videos) had previously defended Jackson during the 2005 trial.

Robson's lawsuit against Jackson's estate is still pending.

The Neverland ranch was closed in 2006, when Jackson and his family moved to Bahrain following his acquittal from the second instance of sexual abuse allegations. The property was seized by Colony Capital in 2008 after Jackson failed to make debt repayments.
