On Saturday more than 500 children are expected to register for the Albury Indoor Netball Association competition.
It is the first of two competitions at the Lauren Jackson Sports Stadium that run each Saturday throughout the calendar year and break only for school and public holidays.
Long-time organiser Trish Cerminara said it was a celebration of netball.
“We have five different age divisions starting at 9-and-under, 11-and-under, 13-and-under, 15-and-under and 17-and-under, running all day Saturday,” she said.
“But there are kids as young as six and seven playing in the lower age group and they are split into divisions in the age groups as well.
“It’s the biggest of its type on the Border and we like to think of ourselves as a nursery for Ovens and Murray players and umpires.
“We’ll take registrations this Saturday from 9am to midday for teams and individuals — if you want to play but perhaps don’t have a team we’ll find you one.”
Cerminara downplayed the impact of the upfront $70 fee attached to registrations this year.
“We discussed it at the end of last year and have sent letters out in the past month,” she said.
“This will be the first year for the upfront fee and we are hoping it won’t affect numbers.”
