The unique speedway event pits riders who normally compete in different forms of motorsport such as Dirt Track, Motocross, Speedway, Road Racing and Enduro against each other at the Diamond Park Circuit.
It means the usual four-rider fields turn into eight in some classes, bikes tuned for motocross re-configured for demands of the speedway.
Shane Clare said egos and reputations were on the line in the first round of the Skylift Hire and Rental Summer Series.
“There is some fierce rivalry between the groups,” he said.
“Because we have riders who don’t normally race against each other — their reputations are on the line as well as bragging rights for their chosen motor sport.
“In the Open Senior Class some local riders will be vying for the win. Josh Antone, Chris Seaton, Matt Fyfe and Mark Jones all looked super fast in practice last Sunday and are sure to be at the front end of the field, competing against each other and trying to keep the visiting riders at bay.
“There are several riders with international racing experience competing in this class, and the action will be close and spectacular.
“Local legend Travis Gow will see himself as the front runner in the veterans class, but strong competition will come from Peter Larkin, Simon Hampton and Gavin Grant who all have a wealth of experience and ability.”
Clare said the unique series, now in its fourth year, was designed for locals but now attracts riders from as far away as Canberra and Melbourne.
Racing starts at 5pm and concludes around 10.30pm.
Spectator admission is by gold coin donation and full catering will be available.
The second and final round in the series will be held at the same venue on February 28.
