But speaking on the morning after the Waratahs went down 25-13 to the Force at Allianz Stadium, the centre was in no way refuting that such a walk-out had happened.

Beale, 26, has been around Waratahs rugby long enough - even with his two-year spell with the Rebels from 2012 to 2013 - to know how fragile the Waratahs fan base can be and to what lengths they will go to respond to performances like Sunday's.

Bealealso knew that he had his share of blame to wear for Sunday's loss - as did all of the Waratahs, judging by those of them who spoke on Monday.

The literal turn-about of the fans after Force reserve prop Francois Van Wyk scored the Perth side's fourth try at the 73rd minute to extend the scoreline to 25-8, showed how quickly NSW support can be lost despite the aftermath of joy for their Super Rugby title win last year. And Beale, nodding when asked, agreed: "One hundred per cent."

While Beale did not see fans leave en masse, he confessed that at the time he was struggling with embarrassment for his own error-riddled game. "Part of that big disappointment was how embarrassed I was and [how] I think a lot of us felt when performing the way we did for the fans. They are a big part of what we do.

"To put on a performance like that definitely hurts us. We will be going into this week working a lot harder to try and get back to the way we want to play and that's to play exciting rugby and good rugby ... so in future we don't disappoint [the fans] and more so ourselves. We don't want to be feeling the way we did [Sunday] afternoon."

Beale also knows first-hand how Waratahs fans can respond, the most extreme being on March 19, 2011, when the Waratahs lost 26-3 to the Cheetahs at Allianz Stadium.

While many dejected Waratahs supporters left the stadium before full-time, many of them waited until after the game to boo the players off the field.

In light of Sunday's loss, the challenge is for the Waratahs to win against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday night and restore their supporters' faith.

Beale is confident the problem at hand is all in the mind, even though it was shown on Sunday with poor ball-handling and defence and blunted impact at the breakdown.

"We have probably had the best pre-season we have ever had and [coach Michael] Cheika did that for a reason," Beale said.

"Physically I am feeling okay. It is more the mental side that I'm feeling because it's obviously a very emotional time after a disappointing loss like that."

While Cheika said the Tahs "weren't angry enough", he took partial accountability after the game, citing a possible error in preparation.

But Beale believed the players had to shoulder the burden. "As a playing group we should take ownership of the performance," he said. "There were so many opportunities where we could have turned a lot ... into the points.

"[Cheika] shouldn't take any blame for that. It is up to us as the players – we are the ones out there playing the game."

He also backed Cheika's ability to cope with being the Waratahs and Wallabies coach, saying: "If there is anyone who would do it ... he is the best man to do it.

"That's definitely not hindering the playing group at all. We have full belief in him and what he is trying to do for us as a club here at the Waratahs.

"The rest, we will worry about that later on."
