The 31-year old started his A-League career slowly but has begun finding his form, and plenty of goals, as the season has progressed.

That has sparked a broader discussion about whether the club should look to extend his one-year deal – worth $1.4 million per season.

However, Janko – who remains captain of Austria, a nation on track to qualify for Euro 2016 – says he has begun receiving offers from Europe and is contemplating returning home if nothing materialises from Sydney FC.

"I'm open-minded to every kind of direction and the other day my agent called saying there is interest from Europe coming, popping up now. So we will see what will be the solution," he said.

"At the moment I'm just trying to focus on this season and to have success with the team and then everything else will be solved be itself this season. I'm just focusing on performing well and we'll see about that."

In the meantime, Janko will keep his spot in the starting line-up for Saturday night's clash with Central Coast at Allianz Stadium despite suffering an unusual toe injury in the 3-3 draw against Melbourne Victory.

"I got irritation in my tendon in my big toe. Then I got two hits in the first half in same spot where I had the pain and it went worse, actually. So then we decided to get off," he said. "We definitely owe our home audience a victory, it's been a few games and I hope the next game we can please them."

Janko has been in good scoring touch of late, hitting his eighth goal of the season in the Big Blue and now moving in sight of a double-figure tally.

"It took a while to find my rhythm again – and also confidence as a striker lifts from scoring goals, after two years [out of form] your confidence is suffering," he said. "That whole process was taking time and I'm very happy that Graham Arnold and Sydney FC had the patience with me, especially in the beginning phase and now everything is good.

The striker hailed Arnold for having a "massive, massive impact" on his game and for having faith despite arriving in Sydney lacking fitness.

"It's not usual that a coach has that much patience with a player who did not play for almost two years and was not in shape when he arrived. I'm very pleased with the way he's treated me," Janko said.

"You have to see the whole picture, I came out from two horrible years in Turkey where I barely played. It took a while to find my rhythm again. But I'm only as good as the team is working together. At the moment we're working very well altogether. The boys know me quite well now. They know which kind of balls I would like to have. I'm only as good as the team.

"I'm only good as long as the team is performing well and at the moment we're at a very high level and I'm very happy with the guys and the team is working very well together, combined with that is our great team spirit. Everything is on track at the moment."

Declaring himself "pretty impressed" with the league, Janko said he believed that Sydney – despite being in fifth – were every bit as good as the top teams and capable of fighting for the title.

"The level is quite good. There is not one game when you can say it's a clear win for us, you have to fight for your points," he said. "You can sense in the results see the top teams are only a few points difference. I can see it's quite a tight race this season.

"I think we can compete with the best teams. We are one of the best teams from my point of view and I think we will be in the race for the title."

The Sky Blues play the five bottom teams in the next month and will go into Saturday's match full of confidence after demolishing the Mariners 5-1 in Gosford last month. However, Janko said he wouldn't be reading much into that result.

"Consistency is the key for us, it's the central thing for this game and we proved we can beat them quite [well]. But I think they will do everything they can to recover from that defeat we up there. I think it will be quite a difficult game for us," he said. "They will do everything they can to prove they are still a good team and I'm expecting a tough game."
