Catholic College Wodonga gained 70 new students while Trinity College has acquired 90 across its two campuses at Thurgoona and Baranduda.
But one major private school, The Scots School Albury, refused to disclose its student numbers.
There has been speculation enrolments fell after it axed several staff members last year.
Principal Peggy Mahy would not reveal the number of students at the school this year, but said enrolments always fluctuated and there had been a number of inquiries this year.
Catholic College Wodonga has created a waiting list for year 8 students and increased the number of year 7 classes from six to seven.
An extra class has also been added to its year 9 program.
Enrolments at the school jumped to 1093 from 1023 last year.
Principal Darren Hovey said the school was thrilled but not surprised by the boost.
“Our VCE results last year were among the best we’ve ever achieved — our students topped our region,” he said.
“Our VET completion rate of 97 per cent was also the highest in our region and one of the highest in the state.”
Mr Hovey said as long as they had the capacity, they would continue to provide for families seeking an education at the school.
Catholic College Wodonga learning and teaching deputy principal Sarah Carter said the library had been transformed into an open learning space, creating three extra classrooms for year 7 students.
“Enrolments have been significant for us and I think people are interested in the opportunities students have here,” she said.
Trinity College has increased its numbers from 800 to 870 at the Thurgoona campus and 100 to 120 at the Baranduda campus in the past year.
Principal Steven O’Connor said the school was one of the newest in the region.
“We are growing and adding new buildings and people are interested in their children having the opportuni- ties that we offer,” he said.
Enrolments across most of the schools in Albury-Wodonga have increased this year, with Holy Spirit School gaining 46 students and St Monica’s Primary School and Xavier High School 20 each.
