The annual exhibition showcases the achievements of people with disabilities and includes demonstrations of Sailability sailing, wheelchair basketball, arts and crafts and the Wild Things band and choir.
Disability Advocacy and Information Service access group co-ordinator Joanne Gould said it was a chance for people with disabilities to perform to people other than friends and family.
“Disabled people do not see themselves as having a disability, they just know how to do things a different way,” she said.
“It is society that puts a “dis” label on their abilities.”
The free expo will include singing, dancing and acting from the Mercy hospital’s Catherine’s Corner dance troupe and schools including Wewak St and St Monica’s Signing Choir.
The Fruit Bats, a circus for adults, will also perform and ex-Paralympian Phillip Tracey, from Porepunkah, is the guest speaker.
The expo will be held at the Mirambeena Centre, in Lavington, from 11am to 2pm on Friday, December 1, coinciding with a showcase of new technology for people with disabilities.
