And its in a good position to do so, after, bowling the Lakers out for 173 on day one.
It’s a total Corowa captain Jarrod lane said was well within reach.
“If they’d got another 30 runs it would be a pretty tough ask on that pitch, but 173 is well within reach,” Lane said. “We’re definitely a chance to win.”
Corowa’s middle order has struggled with the bat, with Matthew Wilson the exception.
“We’re due for a win,” Lane said. “We just have to play smart cricket.
“The Lakers are a quality bowling side, so we need to focus on batting out the day.”
Corowa sits fifth on the ladder, two points behind Bruck, which is locked in a tussle with second placed City Colts.
Jon Hyde’s 91 capped a solid innings last weekend as Bruck set the Colts 257 to claim first innings points.
They’ll be keen to rebound from the drubbing they copped from Beechworth in last Sunday’s one day grand final.
A Bruck loss and a win for Corowa would make things interesting in the final round.
The Magpies will be after an outright over the Rovers to jump back into the finals race.
The Rovers last week crumbled for 60 before the Magpies declared at 3/94.
Rovers were then in teetering at 2/6 at the close of play.
Myrtleford has it all to do against the Wanderers, who posted 370 last Saturday.
Kayde Surrey, Matt Hunt, Josh Newton and Brenton Surrey all passed 50.
It’d be the comeback of the season if the likes of Brad Piazza and Luke Wentworth led the Saints to victory, but with the Wanderers on a high after their first Ray Newton shield, such a result looks out of reach.
