With so much free space from the ex-railway ground to play with and get it right, it is a bloody disgrace.
Why was there no turn left any time with caution lanes provided at the time of construction; it would have helped out greatly. Yet there are turn left filter lights provided, against one lane only to turn from which is not logical.
Why was there no large roundabout installed, at least it would have filtered some traffic through.
We now have cars running just-changed red lights because they would otherwise be held up by the traffic lights again, putting pedestrians at risk stepping out at crossings to cross the road on green pedestrian walk light.
I have been told of near misses that have occurred already as cars charge through when the pedestrians are given the green light.
I can imagine how it will get further congested with more traffic in time, which it will as the city grows.
I believe the traffic flow is worse now than before council made any changes.
It may have looked great on design paper but is woeful in practice.
A perfect opportunity to improve things was certainly missed out with this work.
I wonder who stuffed up there?
