His name was Dudley Gordon Padman — Gordon to his friends and DG to the rest of us.
I used to come into contact with him through my work.
I found that he always had time for any constituents, whoever they were and whatever their problems.
He had never heard of the work “impossible”.
I am probably one of the few people still living who know how hard DG, a state representative, fought a Commonwealth department to get pensions for deserving local residents.
His dedication changed laws.
