Tungatalum will arrive from the Tiwi Islands next week with coach Daryn Cresswell excited by the prospect of unleashing him on the big Birallee Park ground.
“He’s one of the more skilful players I have seen that isn’t in the AFL system,” Cresswell said.
“He has the ability to turn a game on its head.
“He’s lightning across the ground.”
Tungatalum, 24, has been playing for the Tiwi Bombers with good mate Austin Wonaeamirri and said last night he was looking forward to his first stint in the Ovens and Murray.
He almost joined North Albury last year before opting to play for St Arnaud.
“It will be good playing under ‘Cressa’ (Cresswell),” he said.
“I know a few of the boys down there.”
Tungatalum, who was on St Kilda’s rookie list in 2009, has played more than 100 matches in the NTFL with St Marys and Tiwi Bombers.
Wodonga Raiders have undergone more change than any other club in the league over the off-season, with former Ovens and Murray players Matt McDonald, Matt Murray and Dean Heta, Southport pair Todd Grayson and Jake Goldsmith, St Mary’s Jackson Clark, Palm Beach-Currumbin’s Matt Derrick and Henty’s Sam Murray heading the inclusions.
Jethro Calma-Holt has switched form North Albury and young gun Jydon Neagle will also play when free of VFL commitments with Essendon.
Wodonga Raiders will kick off their season against Wangaratta on Good Friday at Norm Minns Oval.
