Tony Craig White had eluded Albury officers since October 10, 2013, when he failed to appear in Albury Local Court for a second time.
Albury police increased their efforts to track down White earlier this year, leading to White calling The Border Mail to claim he would not be caught and that he was the victim of a crime he had been charged with.
When told by a staff member that police were looking for him, White said officers had been looking for a long time and would not catch him.
Wodonga police yesterday caught White in Hume Street about 2.45pm and arrested him over the NSW warrant.
Albury police will today apply to extradite White, who does not having any outstanding matters in Victoria.
He had been due to appear before court in October 2013 over the intimidation of a Lavington woman and an attack on her car with a tyre lever.
There had been an incident involving the woman and White, and co-offender Victoria Lee Arnott, on March 18, 2012.
White was driven past the woman’s home when he abused her.
There was a confrontation a short time later with White using a tyre level to hit the woman’s car before smashing a window.
Police had appealed for White to hand himself in in December 2013 but did not receive a response.
Albury Inspector David Cottee said in January that police had tried to make contact with White, with officers confident they would eventually catch him.
“We have made some enquiries about his current location,” he said.
“We’ll arrest him when we come across him.
“He is aware that there is a warrant for him.”
People had been warned not to approach White.
