I was wondering with the additional car parking spaces if Zauner Construction and Albury Council could install a loading zone close to the entrance of the building?
Currently, delivery drivers are expected to find a parking space on the street, then transport the freight up the disabled ramp to the first level before entering the building.
Drivers often have to double-park in the street and trolley the freight along the footpath, which is likely an OHS issue. Additionally, the freight is often heavy and sometimes requires several trips.
It is unacceptable and inconceivable that a recently constructed, dedicated commercial building would be approved and built without any freight facility or service area.
If this situation continues, one (or both) of the following things will happen: 1. Either the building will be black-banned or boycotted; and/or 2. The tenants will be charged more for freight services (because of increased time for deliveries-pick-ups).
I, and every other delivery person who has the unfortunate job of servicing this building, look forward to being treated with the respect and dignity we deserve by having the proper freight facilities in the right location.
Remember: no freight, no economy.
