My gas use is for heating only and in warm months it is turned off. I actually pay more for not using gas than my neighbours who use it 12 months of the year.
When I questioned this with Origin Energy they told me because they supply a service it must be paid for, using it or not.
I say to Origin Energy: I and all your customers are supplying you with a service.
It’s called a mail box. I keep it locked and clear it of junk mail so letters don’t get thrown out. Cobwebs are cleared regularly, along with the occasional snail.
Since being at this address no one from your company has been to clean your so-called service.
Perhaps all Origin Energy customers should start charging a “service fee” for mail box usage, then maybe they could feel what it is like to get ripped off.
