The paddlesteamer cruised into Lake Mulwala about 7pm yesterday and was met by a crowd keen to see the vessel in action.
Wayne Knowles, whose sons Robbie and Fraser own the Cumberoona, made the journey on the boat with about a dozen people.
He said the journey, which started on Tuesday, had been “unreal” with hundreds gathering on the banks of the Murray to catch a glimpse.
“Ever since we started talking about it, everyone has been really enthusiastic,” he said.
“We stopped at Corowa for about 45 minutes (yesterday) and got under the bridge there easily; it’s much higher than the bridge at Howlong.
“We got into Yarrawonga and did a lap for the public and tied her up.
“It was terrific.”
Mr Knowles will help his sons repair the Cumberoona, which is likely to take until September, before she begins taking cruises at Lake Mulwala.
