Member for Albury Greg Aplin yesterday announced a skate park in Henty has taken a major step forward with a successful ClubGRANTS application delivering $150,000 towards the project.
The same NSW licensed clubs grants program last week provided $228,000 towards the Urana Road Oval upgrade in Lavington.
Henty Rotary Club sought the funding to construct the skate park adjacent to Memorial Park with the total cost of the project being $187,500.
“I’m pleased to announce the NSW government is supporting the development of a recreational space for the Henty community to use as a skate park,” Mr Aplin said.
“The Henty community has always worked well together.
“This terrific grant is a testament to their hard work and forward thinking for the town and its future.”
An adjacent wall will be painted by young people in Henty on the theme of “wall for all” celebrating the cultural diversity of the region.
It has been developed in by two Henty community groups and the Greater Hume Shire youth advisory committee.
Mr Aplin said the project responded to the changing demographics of the town with increasing numbers of families and children.
