Murray was unstoppable early playing out of the goal square, with boom recruits Willie Thorne and Mitch Hough ensuring he was given plenty of opportunities.
Thorne oozed class every time he won possession, while Hough, Kristan Height, Luke Quirk and Lachlan Dale generated plenty of run over the six 20-minute quarters.
The under-strength Magpies were dealt a blow early when defender Justin Hoggan was stretchered off the ground with a potentially serious ankle injury.
Midfielder Matt Kelly turned in a typically strong performance but was left to shoulder too much of the workload.
“The boys played pretty well,” Murray said.
“We made a pretty good start and ran the game out.”
Myrtleford went into the clash without Mitch Dalbosco, Fraser Lucas and John Simpson, while Judd Porter and Matt Westhoff were among a host of key players missing for the Magpies.
