Port Adelaide limited the damage in the final quarter, kicking three goals to wind up on the losing side of a 66-point margin.
For Richmond, Dusty Martin was the clear standout with 27 disposals, ably backed up by Bachar Houli (26), Shaun Grigg (21), Brandon Ellis (20) and Nick Vlastuin (20).
Sam Lloyd kicked four goals - three in the third quarter - while Shane Edwards added two majors.
For Port Adelaide, Jared Polec and Kane Mitchell both had 26 possessions, with skipper Matthew Broadbent adding 20 touches and Aaron Young two goals for the short-handed Power.
As expected, the Tigers dominated the possession count 359-306, also enjoying a huge advantage in inside 50s (58-34) and contested possession 117-85.

A better effort from the Power, restricting Richmond to three goals for the quarter, all from Sam Lloyd.
But Port Adelaide still trails by 70 points with one quarter to play in front of a good crowd at Lavington Oval.
The Tigers lead the contested possession count 91-59, with Dustin Martin tallying 23 possessions to the final break. Kane Mitchell leads the Port Adelaide disposal count with 22 touches.

HALF-TIME: RICHMOND 1.8.5 (62) leads PORT ADELAIDE 1.1 (7)
The Power finally got on the board, courtesy of a running goal from Aaron Young but Richmond was still able to extend its advantage, taking the margin beyond 50 points at the main interval.
As expected from such a lop-sided scoreline, the Tigers dominated the stats, with Dustin Martin and Bachar Houli racking up 17 and 16 disposals, respectively.
As a team, Richmond enjoyed a staggering 193-141 advantage in possession, pushing the ball inside its forward 50 35 times to the Power's 15.

Kicking with the aid of a handy breeze, Richmond poured in four goals in the opening 10 minutes to skip away from the Power.
Matters never improved for the inexperienced Power side, with the Tigers dominating possession around the ground to take a handy 38-point lead at the first break.
