The Pigeons will be missing only a handful of stars including Kayne Pettifer, Steve McKee, Drew Barnes, Nick Lawless and Matt Dwyer with Fevola saying they wouldn’t be holding back.
Coburg coach Peter German put his team through a rigorous two-hour training session in Yarrawonga yesterday morning as part of the VFL club’s training camp.
“We will be up against it but it’s good for the young kids,” Fevola said.
“Brady Pritchard will play against Aaron Heppell or someone like that.
“These blokes are the next step under AFL.
“We jumped at the chance to play them,
“I had a lot at them train with Peter German today and they weren’t mucking around.”
Yarrawonga took an inexperienced line-up into last weekend’s practice match against Therry Penola with Fevola kicking 10 goals.
The Pigeons will round off their preparation against Balwyn next weekend.
“This will be the best side we put together in a pre-season game,” he said.
“We had a virtual under-18 side last week.
“The boys are excited about this one; you want to play the best you can.”
Meanwhile, Wangaratta defender Justin Hoggan is in doubt for the start of the season after injuring his ankle.
Wodonga Raiders will have their first hit-out against Shepparton United with Daryn Cresswell taking an under-strength side to Shepparton.
