Banks kicked three goals in the impressive victory and was expected to meet Panther officials last night to map out a plan about travelling back from Wollongong each weekend.
It is believed Lewis Gardiner may also return to Lavington after recently telling coach James Saker he wanted to pursue triathlons.
Banks was a stand-out for the home team as it kicked five goals to one after half-time with Adam Butler, James Saker and Luke Garland also prominent.
Justin Koschitzke kicked two goals and looked threatening playing alongside Adam Prior in attack while Brant Dickson had his moments in defence.
In a surprise move, former Albury and Henty premiership player Jamarl O’Sullivan started in the ruck for Lavington.
Sam Harris played his first match after finishing his cricket commitments.
Benalla defender Lachie Smith was outstanding in defence opposed to Koschitzke and Prior at various stages and coach Luke Morgan worked hard in the midfield.
While the Saints were way below full strength, Lavington had some of its premier players missing as well including Matt Pendergast, Kade Stevens, Tom Hargreaves and Myles Aalbers.
Lavington take on North Albury at Bunton Park next Saturday.
Albury proved too strong for Shepparton Swans at Wodonga, Pascole Vale edged out Corowa-Rutherglen by three goals and Coburg defeated Yarrawonga by 48 points.
