The Myer Ambassador and popular television presenter and model, who originally hails from Manchester, will be visiting Albury for the first time.
“I am looking forward to seeing what the Fashions on the Field competitors bring to the Albury Cup,” he said.
“I love a day out at the track with friends and I don’t mind the odd bet either.
“The races always have such a great atmosphere, it’s always so good seeing the trackside fashion.”
Smith’s advice for those planning to enter the fashion stakes, which carries more than $20,000 in prizes, may sound simple, but takes lots of planning.
“To stand out from the crowd entrants need to express their own racing style, those who always catch my eye demonstrate current trends while incorporating their own individuality,” he said.
“Women should pay attention to detail and focus on personal presentation and remember the races are all about elegance.”
For the men, Smith said a well-fitted tailored suit was a must and his advice was don’t be afraid to mix patterns and styles.
“I love putting on a tailored suit and looking sharp and taking a risk with bold prints and accessories,” he said.
Model and presenter Nikki Phillips, who also loves racing and dressing up, will join Smith on the judges panel along with model Monika Clarke.
The Myer Fashions on the Field has three categories including Lady of the Day, Gentleman of the Day and a millinery award.
Registration is compulsory, starting at 10.30am to 12.50pm on Cup Day, Friday, March 27.
