This information says the burns will be in the evenings on Nail Can Hill, Wednesday, March 25, to Friday, March 27, with the main fire on Saturday, March 28.
The Albury Gold Cup event has the city mostly booked out by visitors on the Friday. Voting is on Saturday.
The information goes on to say the fire will cover 60 hectares and that people should avoid using the walking trails during the fire and also for several days afterwards due to smoke, ember drift and unstable trees.
The elderly and those with respiratory conditions are warned to keep windows and doors closed for the duration of the burn.
The concern is that not enough elderly people, and those intending to visit the area, will be warned about the proposed fires and the dangers of the smoke and emissions.
How will it fit in with the Albury Gold Cup and the turnout to vote?
