And arguably never as much fun as in the past two days.
Cavanough had been enduring a frustrating run leading into the
Albury carnival with 18 wins from 165 runners.
But four winners, including three feature races highlighted Cavanough’s ability to shine on the big stage.
The Monstar handed Cavanough his first City Handicap on Thursday and alongside Cat Tales a winning double.
The leading trainer then raised the bar again yesterday, claiming his first Albury Guineas with Loved Up and third consecutive Flat Knacker with Corsica Lad.
“It was an unreal carnival,” Cavanough said.
“To have 16 runners over the two days and end up with a 25 per cent strike rate is satisfying.
“I’m lucky in that I have got a great bunch of owners, a great bunch of support staff, a great race club and what a great day.
“Bring on 2016.”
After winning the Albury Gold Cup two year’s ago with Niblick, Cavanough has now won all the feature races over the carnival with the exception of the Adrian Ledger Memorial.
Some of his finest training moments have all been at Albury over the carnival.
It was memorable in 2007 when he trained six winners over the two days, while 2103 was also special winning the Albury Cup and Flat Knacker in the space of 40 minutes.
Cavanough rated the past two days just as highly.
“To win four races and three of them features is extra special,” he said.
“Winning an Adrian Ledger Memorial is the next one on the bucket list and another cup.
“It was just a sensational day and I had the time of my life.
“Watching my owners win a race gives me that big a thrill and I’m just over the moon.
“We will just have a bit of a party of the stables tonight to celebrate and then it’s back to business.”
