The city will shut down this morning between 7am and midday for the Ulysses Club’s grand parade, one of the last events of the week-long annual general meeting.
About 2000 bikers will depart from Baranduda’s Frayne College from 9am and finish in the car park at the Wodonga Council building.
From 7am, the northbound lane on Baranduda Boulevard will be closed, as well as the northbound lane on Beechworth Road.
High Street will also be shut in both directions between Lawrence Street and Elgin Boulevard, as well as the eastbound lane of Lawrence Street, between Beechworth Road and Havelock Street.
Havelock Street will be closed; Hovell Street, between The Cube and the water tower will close at 9am and re-open at 1pm.
Event director Blue Knowles said onlookers could get the best view from the take-off point at Frayne College or along Beechworth Road and High Street.
“Just come along and enjoy the spectacle, it will be awesome,” he said.
For anyone nervous about the effect on the Wodonga racecourse track due to the number of members, they need not worry.
Organisers have hired a leopard tank bridge.
Event secretary Heather Knowles said without the bridge, the bikes could have ruined the track.
“The structure is perfect for what we needed,” she said.
“The bikes could have done thousands and thousands of dollars worth of damage.”
