The town hosted the Morgan Country Car Club Swap Meet yesterday, with attendees buying car parts, craft items, and even pet birds.

“We’re happy to take anyone,” organiser Andrew Pargeter said.

“If someone wants to sell something, we let them in; we don’t knock back anyone.

“It was brilliant.”

Mr Pargeter said all but 12 of the 225 market sites were booked out, while about 140 cars took part in a show and shine.

“Because we’ve been running the event for 19 years it’s on most car enthusiasts’ calendars,” he said.

“We had a mix of cars, some that have been restored, some hot rods and some that are original.

“We would have had about 2500 people through.”

Greg Hewitt said he attended the event in search of items to renovate his Bungowannah home.

“I only had a couple of hours to get around, but you could easily spend quite a few hours there,” he said.

“You pick things up that you can’t find anywhere else.

“I bought some wood splitting wedges and a wood plane for the house I’m renovating.”

Seller Les Clay said he had made good sales during the event and plans to travel around the country selling items from his 20-plus years of collecting.

“It’s a great social event, as well as being a chance to make some pocket money,” he said.
