The sniffer dog was used by a dog handler and officers from the Albury Local Area Command to seek out drug users on Friday and Saturday.
Pubs and clubs in Albury, Corowa and Mulwala were targeted, with eight men found to be in possession of drugs.
Inspector Scott Russell said six men had received court attendance notices and two had received a cannabis caution.
“It’s part of our ongoing operation in relation to street-level drug use within the Albury Local Area Command,” he said.
“Police are targeting the possession of prohibited drugs.
“It’s a community safety issue and we will continue to enforce the law in relation to drug use.”
Officers seized six ecstasy tablets, and small quantities of speed and marijuana.
“The possession of the drugs is not only illegal, it’s also dangerous to the people involved,” Inspector Russell said.
“They don’t know what is contained in those pills.”
A sniffer dog was used at Albury Train Station earlier this month and did not detect any drugs on commuters.
