That was triathlon coach Kel Rook’s assessment after Benalla’s Luke Baker dominated the 17 and under category of the Telstra Rural Race Tri Series.
Baker won four races in his age group, with two of those outright race wins at Echuca-Moama and Maryborough.
With the teenager’s final year of school taking precedence over travel and training for the time being, Rook is counting down the days until Baker’s final exam, so he can resume a full training load ahead of summer.
“He’s got a lot on his plate with his studies, but I think he’s definitely got what it takes to go quite far in this sport,” Rook said.
“He’s got bike legs I’ve never seen before.
“He’s still got plenty of work to do, but he’s certainly go the potential to get up there with the likes of Jesse Featonby or maybe beyond.”
Rook also coaches Brendan Murray and Stacey Loccisano, who were the winners in the men’s and women’s 18-29 years category of the Rural Tri Series.
