Albury Wodonga Health workers donned their red, non-slip socks for April Falls Day.
The initiative was created to raise awareness about falls prevention for staff and patients.
“One fall is one fall too many in our organisation,” Albury Wodonga Health clinical nurse educator Sarah Potter said.
Ms Potter said falls were one of the highest dangers within the health service.
“Falls are the biggest risks in the community and the hospital,” she said.
“Having a fall can result in broken bones, surgery, a stay in hospital and if you fall you can hit your head the wrong way and can die.
“The more you fall, the weaker you become and having repeat falls increases the risk of premature death.”
Albury Wodonga Health staff handed out information throughout hospital wards in the Albury and Wodonga hospitals as part of the awareness campaign.
