With both teams winning convincingly in round one, coach Darren Ogier is expecting a fierce tussle particularly with the Bushrangers being without key players Dylan McDonald, David Mennen and Josh Schache.
McDonald and Schache will be playing for the AFL Academy over the next two weeks against Werribee and Northern Blues.
Mennen has been called up to play with the Collingwood VFL side.
“David Mennen, Josh Schache and Dylan McDonald have been outstanding over the pre-season and the next two weeks provides a great opportunity for their development,” Ogier said.
“We look forward to having them back in a few weeks time.
“With three senior players out of the side it provides great opportunity for others to step up and make their mark on the side and the competition.
“Our GPS data indicates that a number of midfield group are working extremely hard both offensively and defensively.
“This workrate will be critical against Gippsland this week.”
The Bushrangers destroyed Bendigo by 107 points last weekend while Gippsland proved a class above Dandenong Stingrays.
Ogier said the road trip could prove to be a blessing in disguise.
“While Morwell games against Gippsland in Morwell always provide a challenge, it’s also great to spend more time together with a bus trip and overnight stay,” he said.
The match starts at 1pm.
