About 85 tonnes of sand, palm trees and flamingos have been used to make the vacant block resemble a scene from a tropical island.
From Monday until Friday between 4pm and 6pm, those aged 12 and over can take part in games of volleyball run by members of the Albury Wodonga Volleyball Association.
The temporary attraction is for REDfest 2015, a youth event which coincides with National Youth Week.
Cr Eric Kerr welcomed the idea.
“It’s out of the park thinking and a great space for it,” he said.
“How often do you get to play beach volleyball in Wodonga?
“I encourage people to come along.”
REDfest committee member Jacob Mildren said the idea of the program was to include a range of events and ensure REDfest was not just seen as a skate event.
“We’ve made changes over the past two years with the inclusion of different events,” he said.
“Things like the beach volleyball and film nights have really changed the dynamics of the program and cater to all age brackets.”
Other REDfest events include a FReeZA movie marathon on The Cube big screen, mini golf in The Cube foyer and a come and try session at the Border BMX Club.
