District singles winner Kim Maher (Henty) was named as a lead.
Fellow Henty bowler Glen Harrison, who was runner-up to Maher in the singles, is named as second in the same rink.
Culcairn’s Terry Hensel has been picked as third in a rink being skipped by North Albury’s Stephen Broad.
Six rinks have been selected for the O&M clash, which has been dominated by Zone 8 for many years.
But the Zone 8 selectors have made some strange moves, and questions are being asked about Narrandera’s David Ivanoff being picked as a skip.
Ivanoff skipped in Narrandera’s winning grade five state pennant team last year and is playing grade three this season.
But there are five other players — Pedro Rudd (Wagga RAFC), David Inglis (Wagga RSL), Christian Morgan (Wagga RSL), Brett White (Wagga RSL) and Nick Gannon (Tumut) — who have previously skipped zone rinks.
Rudd is one of the most successful players in tournaments in the region and was recently runner-up in the Henty triples.
He skips in the top division for Wagga RAFC and is a long-time district skip, but has been named as a lead.
Inglis is selected to play second and the same situation applies with Morgan, who was in superb form when Zone 8 belted O and M at Wodonga last year.
Both White and Gannon have been picked to play as thirds.
The team is: Apollo Birch (Wagga RAFC), David Inglis (Wagga RSL), Tim Crampton (Tumut RSL), David Ferguson (Wagga RAFC) s; Pedro Rudd (Wagga RAFC), Brett Bevan (Tumut RSL), Isaac Rayner (Tumut RSL), Bruce Lack (Temora) s; Sean Smith (Wagga RAFC), Peter Thornton (Wagga RAFC), Nick Gannon (Club Tumut), David Quigley (Wagga RAFC) s; Bryce de Bruyn (Wagga RAFC), Christian Morgan (Wagga RSL), Brett White (Wagga RSL), Rick Potter (Barmedman) s; Peter Durnan (Narrandera), Mark Thornton (Narrandera), Lincoln Gooley (Narrandera), David Ivanoff (Narrandera) s; Kim Maher, Glen Harrison, Terry Hensel, Stephen Broad (s). The official rink is Bill Spletter (Temora), Bob Warner (Wagga RSL), Max Sanbrook (Wagga RSL), David Cassidy (Harden).
