The Bulldogs will be a tough task to overcome at home, particularly with the addition of recruits Brad O’Connor and Marcus McMillan.
O’Connor bagged six goals for Strathmerton in a thumping win over Mathoura last weekend and will pose a huge challenge for the young Saints’ backline.
Berrigan coach Ty Russell said before the season that while the Saints had been in good form over the past 12 months, they still lagged behind competition leaders Jerilderie and Strathmerton.
The Saints will undoubtedly be out for redemption after being mauled in last year’s preliminary final, when Zeke Bunge and Adrian Crestani kicked 13 goals between them to lead the Bulldogs to a 166-point thumping.
The addition of O’Connor to an already imposing forward line will cause plenty of headaches for Russell, but with his players feeling fresh after a bye last round and the early form of Jack Mynard and Ted Walliss, the Saints should start the game with plenty of confidence.
Win or lose, there’s plenty to be gained for Berrigan.
Jerilderie will be too good for Yarroweyah.
