A leader in the sire battery for these profitable traits is AFTERSHOCK, one of the most complete all-round bulls for type and production in the industry.
ABS Australia key account manager Peter Maxwell said AFTERSHOCK was a consistent type and production transmitter.
“Daughters all over the world are showing outstanding dairy strength and excellent udders,” Mr Maxwell said.
He said Mogul son, Larcrest Commander, would be in high demand this year, offering a great balance between fertility, type and production.
Influential global sire, DORCY, has ranked in the top 15 TPI list since August 2012, and has two sons, PIPER and PARADISE, graduating this week, with both making the top 100 TPI list.
View-Home MONTEREY is a stand-out and sits among exclusive company with his dam, Pine-Tree 2149 descending from one of the world’s most successful bull producing families, Rudy Missy.
ABS Australia national sales manager Paul Quinlan said Monterey excelled across the board and would appeal to a wide range of Australian dairy farmers.
“Monterey is available as sexed ULTRA semen and is one of the highest ranking sires available on the market for sexed semen,’’ Mr Quinlan said.
“Monterey excels in index, making him one of the most complete sires available on the worldwide market today. Type is a real forte as Monterey will sire nice frames with well attached udders.’’
One of the nation’s most exciting homebred sires, Elmar GEROLD, A2, is bred from the cow family which dominated 2015 International Dairy Week, winning champion, reserve and Honourable Mention cows, bred and exhibited by the Hore family, Elmar Holsteins.
Peter Maxwell said Gerold’s dam, Elmar Goldwyn Jessica 4-ET EX-91, has an outstanding mammary system, combined with great dairy frame and quality feet and legs.
“Boasting calving ease, Gerold is a nice option for heifer matings. He has excellent daughter and semen fertility, and is an outcross to many sires used in the industry previously.
“Gerold’s type numbers for udders are outstanding for height and width of rear udder and fore attachment.’’
Also amongst the ABS Australia line-up is genomic sire GENGHIS, a son of the world’s hottest dairy sire in Mogul.
ABS Australia key account manager Marcus Rees said strong type and udders were the norm for this respected cow family.
Genghis carries A2 milk protein and will be available in fresh sexed Ultra semen and conventional semen.
Seagull-Bay Silver, a Mogul son who is high in the list of top gTPI and BPIg bulls, is an elite source of fat and protein, making him demanded the world over.
“Silver offers great type, tremendous production and all coming from the hottest cow family in the world, the Shaunas,’’ Mr Rees said.
“Another high ranking genomic bull from Shuana bloodlines, JOSUPER, has been used as a sire of sons in the US. The Shauna family transmits high protein percentages, making it perfect for Australia’s milk payment system.’’
Two new Jersey bulls to make an impact in the April index run are CSCVISIONMAN and CSCMELVARA.
“Wallacedale Melvara is an exciting new bull offering an outcross for many Australian Jersey breeders,’’ Peter Maxwell said.
“He is going to improve many traits but the stand out feature will be his udders.’’
Paul Quinlan said ABS Australia was introducing more exciting findings from global research on sexed semen trials.
Mr Quinlan said new products would be released for Australian dairy farmers this year.
“ABS is proud to provide local and globally sourced genetics suited to Australian conditions,” he said.
