Despite losses to Albury and Lavington in the opening two rounds, Campbell’s team has been competitive, with the inclusion of Campbell, Sam Carpenter to provide a huge boost, along with debutant Harrison Payne.
“We really only played about a quarter and a half of good footy against Lavington, and then imp- roved on that against Albury last weekend,” Campbell said.
“At the end of the day, we’ve played two of the top teams in the competition and shown we can match them.
“It’s case of continuing and extending that effort in this match.”
Campbell said continued intensity and improvement in ball usage would be the key for Corowa-Rutherglen, particularly if the game was played in the wet.
“There’s been plenty of positives form those first two games, our pressure has been really good and it looks like that will be one of the keys if the conditions are a certain way,” he said.
“If anything, the hardness and intensity we bring to the contest will work out in our favour.”
With both teams looking to get their first win for the season, Campbell said he wasn’t interested in the early season form of the Rovers.
“If we bring the right intensity and pressure, and play to our game plan, the result will take care of itself,” he said.
“We’re not worried about anyone but ourselves at this stage.”
Brydon Robins will debut for the Rovers.
