Magistrate Tony Murray told Fearn when sentencing him in Albury Local Court that it was “one of the worst examples of stalk and intimidate I have seen.”
Solicitor Kate Bleasel said Fearn was banned from attending Centrelink for two years and Mr Murray said: “He brought it upon himself.”
Fearn, 28, of Birdie Street, Wodonga, appeared for sentencing on charges of behaving in an offensive manner, two counts of stalking or intimidating, two counts of disqualified driving and possessing a prohibited weapon.
He was caught driving when disqualified at Table Top on November 18 last year and again on January 16.
Police were patrolling Noreuil Park about 11.10pm on January 7 when they saw Fearn walk from shadows wearing a backpack.
They searched it and found a butterfly knife.
Ms Bleasel said the knife was given to Fearn by an uncle who had since died.
Fearn went to Centrelink on November 25 last year and was asked not to sit on the furniture.
The manager spoke to him, Fearn swore at her and was asked to leave by the security officer.
He went back to Centrelink on January 29, asked to speak to someone “face to face” and the manager said she would assist when she finished with a customer.
“No, you need to see me now,” Fearn responded.
He said he was not leaving until someone saw him to sort things out and was asked to mind his behaviour.
Fearn swore at the manager, was asked to leave by security and when going screamed out: “So you’re not going to help me”.
He turned and hit a glass sliding entrance door as he was leaving.
He returned two days later, yelled at a security officer and told the manager: “I’ll see you afterwards”.
Mr Murray imposed seven month suspended sentences for the driving matters, a $700 fine for the prohibited weapon and a $450 fine on the offensive manner charge.
Fearn was disqualified for three years from when his current ban ends on November 25 next year.
