Despite a tough early-season draw the Saints sit second on the ladder with a 3-0 record after accounting for Osborne and last year’s grand finalists Henty and Rand-Walbundrie in the opening three rounds.
They laid the foundations for the impressive victory with a five goal to two opening quarter and increased their lead at every change to romp to a 19.10 (124) to 10.6 (66) victory.
While the Saints boast a reliable senior core comprising co-coaches Luke Brauer and Luke Schilg alongside Trent Storey, Dean Murphy, Josh McCudden and Jarrod Hillary, it was the lesser lights that shone brightest.
Youngster Darcy I’Anson racked up plenty of possessions on his way to a best on ground display and received plenty of assistance from Marshal Lacey, Tyson Bradsworth and Liam Johnson.
Bradsworth bobbed-up with four goals and was one of 12 goalkickers for the Saints, who unlike previous years, are a lot less reliant on one or two players to kick a winning score.
Burly forward Ash Murray booted eight goals as the Murray Magpies had little trouble disposing of a disappointing Lockhart by 35 points under lights at Lavington Oval on Saturday night.
Murray pulled down several strong contested marks in the slippery conditions in his best match for the Magpies since crossing from Jindera.
Lockhart showed plenty of fight early but faded.
