Just one look at the figures makes that plain to see.
Such is the confidence the council has in the project that almost $8 million will be heading the hub’s way over the next four years.
It is a major investment and no doubt ratepayers will keep a close watch on what happens to ensure they are getting their money’s worth.
Nevertheless, the hub will provide more choice for business and industry looking for land on the Border.
What could also end up being crucial though is the council securing funding for the $7 million still needed for the Davey Road interchange.
This is in addition to the $7 million already allocated by the federal government.
Council general manager Frank Zaknich has made it clear that the two projects are closely linked, so there can be no doubt government needs to put its hands into its pockets to assist.
Given the benefits of the Nexus project — more than 1000 jobs alone are predicted to be created — government must do all it can to bridge the gap.
