I could not believe Sussan Ley’s statement that the budget was unsustainable and that doing nothing was not an option — surely if she was so concerned she would be looking at the “unsustainable” pay rates and allowances of Australian government politicians, including their retirement plans.

And that figure only includes the 150 cabinet ministers who are in Parliament — it doesn’t include backbenchers, state governments and local governments.
Who’s a leaner Mr Hockey?
Health and education are the two most important aspects of life and yet the LNP and the Labor party choose to ignore them — perhaps they are hoping people won’t become too educated and learn to think for themselves. Bit late for that, the young people I know are far more well informed and into world affairs than any politician.
And perhaps they are also hoping that people will die a lot earlier saving the government huge amounts of money. Yes, I know I’m being cheeky, but I’m sure the Australian public would like to see some honesty in their elected representatives. If they want us to lower our living standards they should do the same.
