They are part of the diverse mix that Wodonga Hockey Club will employ when it celebrates all things hockey this weekend.
President Kyle Brereton said the weekend was a chance to thank all of the club’s members, supporters and sponsors.
“Without them, we wouldn’t be able to operate or achieve our goal of providing a real opportunity for Wodonga’s youth to play this amazing game,” he said.
“The association has been terrific scheduling games to make this possible.
“The events start on Saturday morning where the under-9 boys and girls will be showing off their talents on the field and will culminate with a special life members and sponsors lunch during the A-grade men’s and women’s games on Sunday afternoon.
“Face painting, jumping castle, popcorn, slushies and all day barbecue will be available as well as special appearances of the club’s mascot across the entire weekend to entertain the kids.”
Brereton said the radar gun and rainbow socks were late additions.
“We are getting our hands on a radar gun and will run a competition to see who can flick, drag, hit the ball the hardest ... and more importantly the club has signed up to be a participant in the Fair Go sport program that will see all our players decked out in rainbow socks to promote diversity within the club,” he said.
