WHICH WAS YOUR BEST HOLIDAY?

In 2007 when I travelled for three weeks around Vietnam. I got to see so many amazing aspects of the country - from the Mekong Delta and Halong​ Bay to Sapa​ in the north-west mountains. The people were beautiful, the food was incredible and the history was fascinating.

AND THE BEST HOTEL YOU'VE STAYED IN?

The Ritz Hotel in London. This was probably due to the fact that I was only about 18. We were performing there for their New Year's Eve celebrations and stayed for about a week.

WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS TAKE WITH YOU?

I'm a bit of a tech and gadget nut so I always travel with a couple of things that will fill time on planes and trains. The problem with having small children now though is that as soon as they see one, they want one too, and daddy doesn't always want to share!

WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR A PERFECT HOLIDAY?

Knowing that the other members of Human Nature are also on holiday, so there's less chance of work emails flying around. We do get to the point where we need to take a break from everything, and it's nice to be able to be phones-off for a period.

WHAT'S​ YOUR BEST PIECE OF TRAVEL ADVICE?

Always be open to your plans changing. Often the best experiences I've had have been the ones that aren't planned.

AND YOUR WORST EXPERIENCE ON HOLIDAY?

I was meant to be leaving Hong Kong and there was some pretty terrible weather. We actually took off and then the weather was so bad we had to turn back around, but just as we were about to touch down on the runway, the plane suddenly surged ahead and pushed back up into the sky. It was probably one of the most freaky travel experiences I've ever had.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST PACKING MISTAKE YOU'VE MADE?

There was one trip to London when I had completely forgotten to account for the change of seasons. It was summer in Australia and I arrived in the United Kingdom with nothing warm at all.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO NEXT?

I would go back to Vietnam in a heartbeat, however I've always also wanted to travel to India and Africa. I've been to Mumbai briefly for work but I'd certainly like to take some time to explore the rest of the country. That said, if a private island suddenly became available, I certainly wouldn't say no.
